WORKING GROUPS

Use the buttons below to find out more about decolonising activity across departments and colleges in Cambridge, as well as at the University level.

Decolonisation Working Groups

A large amount of the work taking place in Cambridge is organised within department-specific groups.

At present we’re just linking their pages here, but this section will be expanded in future.

Decolonising the University

There are also university level groups and campaigns on a variety of different issues.

Check the student groups for up-to-date information on campaign activities.

Rename Seeley Library – A campaign to replace the name of John Robert Seeley, who was a Cambridge Regius Professor highly supportive of the British Empire.

Decolonising through critical librarianship – A platform for Cambridge librarians approaching decolonisation, sharing resources and case studies.

The Legacies of Enslavement Inquiry is researching into the University’s involvement in and links to the Atlantic slave trade.

Decolonisation in the Colleges

We’re collecting information about decolonisation work in colleges at the moment, and we’re hoping to archive events and actions that have taken place thus far.

Our hope is to be able to archive and share strategies that have worked, in order to better support college-level initatives.

This archive is a work in progress, so if you know of a working group that should be included, please get in touch.
